Story: Years ago Stanley DeBrock, a mentally challenged man, was implicated in the disappearance of Naomi Bridges. Now his twin brother Stone must restore honor to the DeBrock name. Returning home to the small East Texas town of Atwood, Stone is immediately thrown into the mix of a tragic past and an uncertain future. With hopes of rekindling a relationship with his life-long love Diane, Stone encounters his biggest challenge...finding the strength to forgive Stanley. Meanwhile, Stone's uncle Earl Wayne is in debt with two local drug lords...a debt which he cannot pay. Desperate, Earl Wayne and his brother Peebo force Stone into a scheme against Stone's father in order to save themselves. Very well made film! Enjoyed watching this one as it has a greatstoryline and was very well put together.
Cinematography: The film quality looks excellent. Time and attentionwere given to setting the mood of the film. The lighting in the sceneswas thoughtfully planned out and adds to the atmosphere greatly. Thesound quality is great. Crisp sounding audio with a great musicsoundtrack.
Acting: The actors in this film were very believable. Everyone playedtheir part and made the story come together as it should.
Story: Excellent story about two brothers that ended up living verydifferent lives. The ending of the movie will catch you off guard! Lovemovies with a twist.
Editing: The sequence of the editing keeps the film moving along. Thescenes are edited together with a skill level that you don't find inmost independent films.
Conclusion: I greatly enjoyed watching this film. (Spoiler Alert: Iwould have loved to see more of the back story of Stanley) Hopefully asequel is in the works. Great job!

With dynamic acting, brilliant cinematography, and southern charmBroken Blood keeps you on the edge of your seat. The writing isreminiscent of Elmore Leonard with characters leaping off the screen.Playing a dual role of twins, co-writer/director Derek Wayne Johnsonturned two excellent, realistic performances, while also directing acast and getting a different side out of prolific character actorsknown more for other types of roles. The characters were fun to watch,and make you want to know more about them. Ali Costello did anexcellent job as the southern belle, girl-next-door love interest andhad great on-screen chemistry with Johnson. I've already watched ittwice!

The plot of this film touches home for me on many levels, with familymembers abusing drugs and bringing other members down with them. We allhave one bad egg in the family that makes everyone else suffer becausethey have chosen to mess up their own life. If you are from a smalltown, you will relate to this film even more than most, as Stone leaveshis hometown for the bigger, better city of Hollywood. Ambitious withhis dream to become famous, his ego is slowly shattered when realizeshow hard it really is to "make it". After living in Los Angeles foryears, Stone returns home to rekindle an old flame, only to discovermore than he had anticipated. I love how his hometown thinks he is richand famous, only from acting in one movie. HA!...Typical small townmentality.
Most of the characters in the movie demonstrate the dark sides of theirlives and struggles with loved ones without sugar-coating it,pretending to be some Brady Bunch family. Everyone can find a certainsimilarity with one of the main characters; and you will definitelyfind a character that relates to one of your family members as well.
So many words were said through these actors without saying a word,showing the way we hide our feelings and emotions in uncomfortablesituations. The acting is superb. The uncomfortable moments of silencebetween the characters, speaks volumes. Some might find that the filmis slower then usual because of these moments, but I found it to bevery real in the way people interact. The pace definitely picks uptoward the end with lots of action and a GREAT twist.
I really enjoyed this movie because it is about bad blood within afamily and finding yourself… something I am sure we have all struggledwith at some point in life.
